Lyra is living a pinterest perfect life as a social media influencer, until it all starts falling apart. Is her online demise just the work of a new algorithm, or something out of this world?
Inspired by the world of online influencers, writer-director Ariel Hansen wanted to bring a body horror twist to this tale of self implosion via vanity (and a little something extraterrestrial) through a combination of practical and visual effects. With a crackpot team of filmmakers and artists onboard Clout marked Bad Cookie’s 8th short film to date and one of its most ambitious. Having started its festival run during the Covid-19 Pandemic many of Clout’s screenings have been online and, as a big first, on national television in Canada as a part of the Blood in the Snow Film Festival. Keep your eyes peeled for live screenings in a city near you once it is safe to gather in theatres again!
